Morocco has set a new tourism milestone in 2025, according to Africanews, with the country welcoming 19.8 million visitors and cementing its position as one of Africa’s strongest tourism performers.
The latest figures show a 14 percent rise compared to the previous year, reflecting the sector’s continued growth and the country’s expanding global appeal. Officials say this momentum is the result of improved international air links, stronger connections to key travel markets, and a deliberate effort to showcase lesser‑known destinations across the Kingdom.

Tourism revenues also climbed sharply. From January to November 2025, Morocco generated 124 billion dirhams in tourism income, equivalent to USD 13.5 billion, marking a significant year‑on‑year increase. The sector remains a major driver of economic activity, supporting jobs, anchoring foreign currency inflows, and contributing meaningfully to national GDP.
Government representatives described 2025 as a “historic” year shaped by sustained investment in tourism infrastructure, ranging from hotel upgrades to diversified hospitality offerings. They argue that the sector’s trajectory reflects a long‑term strategy aimed at strengthening service delivery and improving visitor experiences across regions.
The country is now looking ahead to 2030, when Morocco, Spain, and Portugal will co‑host the FIFA World Cup. Authorities expect the event to accelerate infrastructure development, broaden international exposure, and support their ambition to attract 26 million tourists by the end of the decade.
